  • 25 March. Enlisted. Age 21 living in Hawthorn, Melbourne a sales assistant recruited for Storekeeper role.
  • 1 April. Posted to WAAAF Depot, Toorak , Melbourne

Note: Valda served just 17 months mainly as a Clerk in Melbourne WAAAF locations. Her file reflects her marriage name change to Blencowe in June 1943 and her wish to be called Valda Blencowe on her service record.

  • 20 April. Posted to No. 2 Air Navigation School (ANS) at Nhill, Victoria, where they trained navigators and other aircrew.
  • 15 May. Promoted to Acting Corporal.
  • 12 September, Discharged on compassionate grounds. What these were specifically is nor recorded but John her husband was serving in their home town and so most likely it was expected she would take up role of home carer and wife and that was the reason she was able to get a discharge.
