  • Thomas was on the very first crew of the USS Walsh in 1945  his first Navy Roster was 11 July 1945 and he has probably involved in the commissioning of the vessel.The USS Walsh was too late to be used in WW2 conflicts and was kept in various posts of the eastern seaboard before being de-commissioned in 1946

    The U.S. Navy high speed transport USS Walsh (APD-111) docked at the Bethlehem Hingham Shipyard, Massachusetts (USA), on 5 July 1945. She is painted in Camouflage Measure 31, Desigh 5L. Walsh was commissioned on 11 July 1945.
