• 2 October. Enlisted in US Navy.

1945

• Thomas was on the very first crew of the USS Walsh in 1945  his first Navy Roster was 11 July 1945 and he has probably involved in the commissioning of the vessel.The USS Walsh was too late to be used in WW2 conflicts and was kept in various posts of the eastern seaboard before being de-commissioned in 1946

• 1 February. Thomas onboard the USS Walsh
• From the uniform, in the possession of his grandson, it can be seen that on discharge Thomas Jnr was a Petty Officer 3rd Class.
