K comments: Son Reginald Sam Blinco served in New Guinea and Solomon Islands in WW2. It seems the family on the whole had its problems in both wars with being in the discipline of the Army. Henry as you will see below deserted in WW1 along with brother George Elvin who was discharged undesirable by the Army in WW1and nephew Aubrey Elvin Blinco who was court-martialled in 1944.

Synopsis

Henry just 18 years enlisted on 29 July 1915 but seems to have deserted on the same day. Married in 1919 under his own name he seems to have been left alone by authotiries no newspaper articles found of court martial. In 1942 at 43 years Harry enlists again and this time serves in New Guinea but illnesses associated with age cause him to be discharged very soon after arrival in PNG.

1942

• 18 February. Enlisted Ferny Grove Queensland occupation Carrier.
• 111 General Transport Company, Harry a Carrier before the war likely employed as a driver of Army Trucks

1943

• 1 September transferred to 113 Gen Transport Company  19 Platoon and embarked for Papua New Guinea
• 4 October. Based at Buna New Guinea.

  

   

• 31 October. Harry was admitted to 2/1 Gen Hospital and assessed by Army medical board as fit to serve on 11 November and discharged to this unit.

1944

• 24 January. Admitted to 106 Casualty Clearing Centre with Rheumatism knee joints and eventually on 7 February sent home on the ship Ozark.
• 23 February. Discharged unfit to serve
• July. Spouse Elsie writes to claim relatives war badge for Harryys and son Sams service abroad.
